No idea what activities bring you joy?
These prompts will help you figure it out.
I previously wrote about how our life grids should contain multiple squares dedicated to activities that bring us joy.
But what if you have no idea what those activities might be for you?
Here are some prompts to help you figure it out.
Imagine you are a multimillionaire. However, you have to work full-time, but you can choose to do anything you want. Any skills you might need you already have. What would you choose to do?
It’s the end of a long, tiring day. Everything that needed to be done is, and you have a couple of hours to chill before going to sleep. If another task landed on your plate right now you’d be so disheartened. Can you think of an activity you enjoy (or think you would enjoy) doing so much that you’d happily spend half an hour on it now before vegging out for the night? Something that might even restore some of your energy?
Imagine that you were guaranteed an hour of peace in the morning before anyone else in your household woke up, or other life commitments had to be taken care of – not at the expense of sleep. What would make you excited to jump out of bed when your alarm went off?
Get a piece of paper and a pen, or be ready to type. Set a timer on your phone for two minutes. Without giving yourself time to think, write down the first ten things that come to mind when you ask yourself: “What would I love to learn more about?”
What do you wish you’d got to learn about at school that wasn’t taught?
What do you love hearing others discuss, and that gives you a feeling of excitement and hope? So much so that you could listen to hours of said discussion every day.
