While I currently work as a biostatistician/researcher, having a PhD in biostatistics, I dream of being a less-famous Scottish version of Gretchen Rubin (I’d rather not go on morning TV), and of having a podcast like #AmWriting that I cohost with my fellow writer pals.
Growing up, I didn’t have a clue that one could be a writer of the research-based non-fiction kind, so such ambitions never entered my mind. That was, until around 2017/18, aged around 28, when I started to discover writers like Gretchen.
I started a blog on a Squarespace site I made during lockdown, but it cost about £200 a year to run, so before it renewed at the end of 2023, I thought I might as well delete it and start a Substack instead. I don’t exactly have a set plan for what I’m going to write about – but I do know I want to be relentlessly helpful.
I live in a terraced house in Glasgow with my true love James and our baby girl Aiyana. Nobody actually calls me Dr. Vicki - it just sounds more profesh, don’t you think?
